Our History

CHURCH1On April 8, 1992, New Hope Mission Church with an Easter Sunrise service at 6:30am, with thirty-two (32) founding members listed below. Rev. Wilbur Bush the founding pastor conducted service. Rev. Wilbur Bush served as the first pastor until his resignation on October 28, 1993. Through the efforts of the pulpit committee, Rev. Dennis L. Gilbert was called to pastor New Hope. Rev. Gilbert was installed as pastor on February 6, 1994. In the spring of 1995 Rev. Ronnie Rampersard was called to be the associate pastor. Under the devoted leadership of Rev. Gilbert and Rev. Rampersard with the support of dedicated members New Hope grew strong in faith. Rev. Rampersard returned to his homeland due to the illness of his wife. Rev. Dennis L. Gilbert resigned as pastor on August 3, 1997.

 

On August 31, 1997, Rev. Roy Liburd became the interim pastor. Through the teaching and preaching of Rev. Liburd our church grew in faith and members.

Rev. Freddie Hinson Jr. was installed as pastor on August 8, 1998. On November 5, 1998 New Hope Mission Baptist Church and Day Care Inc. was changed to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Hudson, Inc.

On Friday, February 26, 1999, after four years of concerted efforts of its members the church mortgage was paid off. Pastor Hinson led by the Spirit of God in his teaching and preaching has brought the membership to an understanding of the scriptures. Also, under the guidance of Pastor Hinson, there was breaking of ground in April 2001 for a new sanctuary. New Hope progressed and the new edifice was erected. On July 14, 2002, Pastor Hinson and the congregation moved into the new church home.
